Now on to the card .......

The Margarita glass, strawberries and saying are all Graphicat Stamps.  It is hard to see but I used glitter ritz on the background of the margarita glass and Rock Candy Distress Stickles around the rim of the glass.  The papers are from Creative Memories The ribbon and bling are from my stash.

Hope you are enjoying the Hop so far.  Next you are off to see the work of another amazing British Columbian, Roxy

Happy World Card Making Day everyone!

Busy Week-End

I had the great pleasure to attend a Scrapbooking Event this past week-end with some amazing ladies.  We worked, we talked, we cropped, we giggled!  It was wonderful.  I completed 4 cards - one of which was a Make 'n' Take, but I am still counting it.  I will post two now but I am saving one for the World Card Making Day Canadian Blog Hop coming up on October 1.  See the Button on the lower right to get more details.

First up....

As a former hockey player, a hockey mom and a hockey wife I fell in love with this image.  She even looks a bit like my daughter!  The image is Kenny K, the saying is from Graphicat Designs, she is coloured with copics, the rest is just a mish mash of things from my stuff.  I did put glossy accents on her skate blades and the button on the top of her hat.
I am entering this card into Graphicat Sketches September Challenge - anything goes.

Next card....
I used my new stamp set from Graphicat Designs, the paper is all Close to My Heart and it was coloured with copics.  It is hard to tell, but I used Rock Candy Stickles around the rim of the glass to look like salt.  I love the saying on this one so it will likely show up again and again on my cards!  I am entering this card into Creative Accents Challenge which calls for 1 Ribbon, 2 (at least) embellishments and 3 pattern paper.

Thanks for stopping by - check back on the 1st when the World Card Making Day Canadian Blog Hop will be running with some amazing work coming to you from right across Canada!
Tina.

Lovin' the Summer Heat!

With August came the sun and heat (finally) and a very busy month.  We have been camping with family, took an amazing houseboat trip, continued on our bathroom renovations, had the kids each attend a week of hockey school and power skating and prepared to return to school and work.  With all that has been going on my craft table has been sadly neglected :-(  We are slowly getting back into routines at home again and I can hear the call of my stamps, patterned paper and copics!  I am attending a crop on September 23-25 with some great friends and am feeling the itch to get back to crafting.
The one crafty thing I did recently was my daughter's birthday cake.  I love decorating cakes and was excited when she picked out a monkey cake she liked.  Here is the cake I came up with:

As much as I enjoyed doing the cake, my daughter's excitement of how it turned out was what made it the best.  She told me it was "Awsome!" and that I am the best Mom ever - if that doesn't make it worthwhile I don't know what does.
We are just putting some final touches in our bathroom and I hope to post before and after pictures later this week.
Hope everyone enjoyed their summer and was able to get in a bit more card making/scrapbooking than I did.  I am off to clear the clutter off my craft table now and get down to some projects.

Happy Birthday Tanya & July Graphicat Sketch

I am excited to have a great friend celebrate her birthday the day after mine and to be able to finally have a blog to join in with others to wish Tanya a Happy Birthday!  Hope you have an amazing day Tanya and are treated like the Princess you really are!

Here is my card for you Tanya!  I also followed the Graphicat Sketch for July on this one.

The image is Delphine Cocktails from Pollycraft, I coloured her with copics and paper is from my large stash.  The sentiment is from Graphicat Designs . I had white flowers that I coloured the edges with copic and used my blender pen to spread through the petals then used a red gem brad in the middle. The gems at her neckline are Sparkles from Close to My Heart and the ones edging the black are Kaiser Craft. I used Liquid Pearls for her bracelet.

I did put Glossy Accents on her Margarita but even in the close up it is hard to see.

If you didn't start this Hop at the beginning then you are going to want to pop over to Janet's Blog.

PollyCraft Challenge

Well amongst working on renovating our bathroom, a visit from a great friend and hiking to the sand dunes I did finally manage to finish off this card for the Pollycraft Challenge #102 Summer Fun.

The image is Summer Things - Cool Cat by Pollycraft, papers are a grand mix of pieces out of my scrap bin, the sun I printed off my computer and then clear embossed, bling is from the $ store and the phrase Chillaxin' (combo of chilling out and relaxing) is my own.  The ziz-zag border on the bottom of the card and around the phrase are done with the new Creative Memories Border Maker system.

We have hardly had warm enough weather to want to splash around in the water like this but a girl can dream!  Hope you enjoy the post.

Teaching the Old a New Trick!

I was blessed with the opportunity today to catch up with a friend from high school and as a bonus she taught me a new colouring technique.  Was a wonderful time all around!

Not sure if there is a name for the technique but it makes me think of stained glass art.  I will attach my pictures first so you get an idea of what it looks like then I'll add the instructions.  I had a really hard time trying to get a picture that showcased the glitter.

This is a very basic instuction so please contact me if you want more specific details. To do this you need a raised outline sticker, sookwang tape, glitter ritz and copics.  A raised outline sticker is carefully placed on a sheet of sookwang cut/sized to the sticker (depending on how intricate the detail is on the sticker this can be easy or very challenging).  Cover the entire sookwang sheet with glitter ritz (we used warm hue), remove the excess and rub in well.  Pick an edge inside the sticker and add a thin line of a vibrant dark copic colour.  Now here is where it gets really neat - use your blender pen to move that colour through that section of the sticker.  Decide if you want to add different colours to differentm sections, use a colour theme or even blend different colours within one section.  I had so much fun with it and my 9 year old daughter watched and has also done an image as well.  It is so easy but looks so amazing.  After I completed my project I did find that I had emptied my blender pen so not sure if it was low or if I used too much.

I can't wait to show some of my friends now how to do this - thanks again Tanya for the visit and for teaching (and learning togethor) how to make this technique work.

July Card as 1st Post

All right - this is my first post (attempt anyway).  I worked on this summer themed card and am happy with how it turned out.

The image is Pollycraft -Blue's Branch, the papers are all Echo Park Paper, I coloured with Copics, used Glitter Ritz on the small heart and tried out the brand new Creative Memories border maker for the upside down picket fence and wove matching paper through it.
I am entering this card in the Creative Accents July Challenge, Summer and for Pollycraft Challenge #101, The Great Outdoors.  I was tempted to do a rainy card based on our awful weather lately but pushed myself to a sunnier option!
I hope you like this first post.  I won't have things on here daily but will try to post weekly!
Hope your weather is drier than mine!
